I am passionate about helping parents get to the root of the challenges they are facing – as individuals, or with their children. As a parent myself, I wholeheartedly understand these challenges. I’m living them right alongside you. My goal is to work collaboratively with parents, serving as a guide to help them find positive and effective solutions for parenting, understand the needs of their children, and work directly with their children to address presenting behaviors and concerns.
I received my Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and held a career in marketing for several years. During this time I also became a parent, and I really began to understand the complexities of human experiences and behaviors through my own lens as well as my child’s. This led me to my Master of Social Work degree from Walden University. I was determined to use my collective professional, educational, and personal experiences to help others address the challenges I had lived out myself - both as an adult and as a parent.
With prior experience in behavioral health and school settings, I am knowledgeable about the systems that surround you including home, school, work, and social environments, and can help you navigate the complexity of these systems. I understand the feeling of unpredictability, the unknown, and the lack of tools to help your child. I also know that this does not have to be permanent. My approach is very collaborative and tailored to each individual child, parent, and family using a variety of therapeutic modalities and tools.
As I often say to my own kiddos when they are facing a challenge, “There is always some kind of solution. We might just have to think hard, get creative, and try some brand new things to find it”. I approach therapy in the same way. I hope to give you and your child a whole new set of knowledge, tools, skills, and resources that will help you find the solutions you’re looking for too.
A Few Words From Katie
As a parent, I can tell you with confidence that I have been in your shoes before. I still am in many ways. Believe it or not, therapists as parents are not immune to child tantrums, attitudes, and difficult parenting moments!
As a therapist, I can tell you that there are solutions to the challenges you are facing. It may not seem like it now, but I assure you – they are there. We just have to work to find the right ones for you, your child, or your family.
I am a firm believer in the power of “why”. This has stuck with me ever since I read Simon Sinek’s Start with Why. My “why” for becoming a therapist is rooted in a long and difficult season of parenting. Several play therapy sessions, long nights, and a master’s degree later, and I was filled with knowledge, expertise, and skills to pass along to others. I aim to help others get the right tools, support, and guidance they need – just like I did. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the world. I am here to support you in this role and help you navigate challenges and adversity while maintaining a positive relationship with your child, your partner, your family, and yourself!
“Say yes to the feelings, even as you say no to the behavior.”

FAQ’s
HOW MUCH DOES A SESSION COST?
My fee for a 50 minute session is $150 and $160 for an intake session.
Rise Therapy Center is an out-of-network provider with many insurance companies, which means that we do not bill insurance companies directly. Your counseling services may be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, medical spending (FSAs), or health savings accounts (HSAs). Health insurance plans and benefits vary. If you are interested in using your health insurance, please call your insurance provider to inquire about reimbursement for out-of-network counseling services.
Our Office Manger will provide you with a document on request called a "superbill," which is like an invoice but contains the service codes, dates of treatment, and monies paid during therapy. You would submit this to your plan directly, and your plan would reimburse you directly.
HOW ARE MY RECORDS STORED?
We utilize a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted, electronic medical record called TherapyAppointment that holds all of my clients' mental health records safely in it. You will get a link to a client portal where you fill in demographic information and can access your paperwork and scheduling. You can aslo find the portal login on our website.
DO YOU HAVE A CANCELATION POLICY?
I have a 24-business-hour cancelation policy. You will be responsible for an entire session fee if the change is made in less than 24-business-hours' notice. Exceptions may be made for emergencies—such as sudden illness or accident—at my discretion. It should be noted that insurance does not reimburse for canceled sessions, and HSA and FSA cards can't be used in these cases.
